Dr. Christian Turbide

Dr. Turbide is one of North America’s leading gastroenterologists, a marathon runner, and a passionate advocate for nutritional wellness care. He believes firmly in preventive care and in the body’s natural healing abilities. Dr. Turbide is fascinated by the relationship between health and diet/lifestyle, and is an avid reader of medical literature on emerging nutritional therapies.

As a health advocate, Dr. Turbide believes we need to see a paradigm shift in the way medical care is conceived of and administered. “Doctors are still trained primarily to end disease and write prescriptions,” he says. “The training we receive in preventive care and nutrition is negligible; teaching patients how to maintain their wellness is not given the priority it deserves. The change toward a wellness mentality has so far been driven mainly by the grass roots, almost in spite of the medical community. It’s time we caught up with the rest of the population.”

Dr. Turbide received his Bachelor of Science degree at Acadia University in 1994, and his MD from the University of Sherbrooke in 1998. He practiced Internal Medicine at University Laval from 1998 to 2002, and completed his gastrointestinal fellowship at McGill University in 2004. He has received further training in Clinical Nutrition and Functional Medicine with the Institute of Functional Medicine.
