Did you ever hear the saying “If you don’t use a water filter, you are the water filter.”?
It’s worth exploring types of water filtration.
This method of water filtration heats water to a boiling point until it vaporizes. The vapor is then condensed and stored after it has been collected. This method is deemed beneficial as it takes away a huge number of pollutants. The downside, however, is that some harmful chemicals may vaporize together with the clean water. These substances are those that have the same boiling point with water. In addition, distillation also uses too much energy.
Distillation is used for several commercial processes such as the production of distilled water, gasoline, alcohol, xylene, alcohol, paraffin, kerosene and some other forms of liquids.
Types of Distillation:
- Simple distillation
- Fractional distillation
- Destructive distillation
- Removes a broad range of contaminants
Ultra-filtration is the process by which water passes through an ultra filter that acts like a molecular sieve. It takes away dissolved molecules according to their size. The advantage of this type of water filtration is that, it efficiently takes away several microorganisms, pyroids, and particles that exceed their rated size. It also produces high quality water at a much lesser energy consumption.
- Consistent water quality from any source water
- Effective pathogen removal
- Lowest lifecycle cost through optimized energy and chemical use
- Compact design resulting in small system footprint
Reverse osmosis is a type of water filtration method that uses hydraulic pressure on a concentrated solution to act against osmotic pressure. It produces purified water, which is then collected on the lower part of the membrane. The water produced does not contain salts, sugar, ions, and molecules that had been dissolved before filtration. Water that is filtered using this method does have a pleasant taste compared to carbon-filtered water.
- Environment friendly
- Does not produce harmful chemicals during the process
- Distinct taste
- Removes dissolved minerals and other contaminants
